Unsere Liste START! tritt wieder zur Senatswahl an! Die Wahl findet am 17. Juni 2025 von 9 Uhr bis 17 Uhr im Senatssitzungssaal, Universitätshauptgebäude, Innrain 52, 1. Stock statt.
Senate Elections
Our list START! is running again in the upcoming senate elections, which will be held on June 17, 2025, 9am-5pm, Senatssitzungssaal, 1st floor, University Main Building, Innrain 52, as announced officially. In this election, the different “Kurien” (status groups, see The Senate) vote for their representatives. START! represents the status group of the university’s professors that is composed of university professors (§ 98, § 99 para 1, 3, 4 and § 99a Universities Act), associate professors (§ 99 para 5/6 [since 2015] Universities Act) and the heads of departments or faculties who do not belong to either of the aforementioned categories of professors.
Of the university’s highest governing bodies (rectorate [Rektorat], senate [Senat] and university council [Universitätsrat]), the senate is the only board that is directly elected by the members of the university. The senate consists of 26 members and comprises representatives of all four status groups (Kurien), i.e. 13 representatives of the group of the full professors, 6 representatives of the non-professorial academic staff (Mittelbau), 6 representatives of the group of the students and 1 representative of the non-academic staff (allgemeines Universitätspersonal). Elections to the senate are held every 3 years.
Electoral lists, which have to observe a gender quota (50 % female candidates), have to be submitted to the president of the electoral commission (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Bußjäger) until 29 April 2025 at the latest.
For legal as well as practical reasons, it is not possible to cast ballots at different locations (per election committee/status group). However, recently the possibility of postal voting has now been introduced whilst E-Voting is not permitted.
Those who want to use postal voting, have to communicate this request to the electoral commission by 7 June 2025 at the latest. The request must give the reasons why physical voting is not possible, eg because of a holiday, illness, professional absence or other important personal reasons. The electoral commission will then send you the ballot paper, electoral card and envelope by registered letter. The electoral commission must receive the postal vote on 17 June 2025 at 5pm at the latest.
Please submit your request and send the postal vote as early as possible so that possible postal delays can be avoided! For legal reasons, it will not be possible to admit delayed requests or postal votes.
The electoral commission will inform all voters on the deadlines for postal voting in due time.
