Unsere Liste START! tritt wieder zur Senatswahl an! Die Wahl findet am 29. Juni 2022 von 9 Uhr bis 17 Uhr im UNO-Saal, Universitätshauptgebäude, Innrain 52, 1. Stock statt.
Da wir in unseren Austauschforen von Kolleginnen und Kollegen immer wieder darauf angesprochen wurden, wie der Senat organisiert ist, welche Funktionen er ausübt und was seine Arbeitsweise ist, möchten wir zunächst – zusätzlich zu den bisherigen Tätigkeitsberichten über unsere Listenarbeit – auf einer eigenen Seite einige Informationen dazu geben.
In diesem Jahr werden neben der Senatswahl auch noch die anderen obersten Leitungsorgane neu bestellt.
- Wahl des/der Rektors/in (4-jährige Funktionsperiode ab 1.3.2023) durch den Universitätsrat auf Grundlage eines bindenden Dreiervorschlags des Senats, der seinerseits einen unverbindlichen Dreiervorschlag der fünfköpfigen Findungskommission vorgelegt erhält
- Wahl der VizerektorInnen (4-jährige Funktionsperiode ab 1.3.2023), durch den Universitätsrat auf Vorschlag des/der neugewählten Rektors/in und nach Stellungnahme des Senats vorgenommen
- Wahl der 3 vom Senat zu wählenden Mitglieder des Universitätsrats (5-jährige Funktionsperiode ab 1.3.2023); 3 weitere Mitglieder werden von der Bundesregierung bestellt, 1 zusätzliches Mitglied wird kooptiert)
Wir als Liste START! werden uns bei diesen Wahlvorgängen wie schon in den vergangenen Jahren sachlich und verantwortungsvoll im Sinne der gesamten Universität einbringen!

Senate Elections
Our list START! is running again in the upcoming senate elections, which will be held on June 29, 2022, as announced officially. In this election, the different “Kurien” (status groups, see The Senate) vote for their representatives. START! represents the status group of the university’s professors.
For your information, we would like to give some general information on the organisation and functions of the senate. More details on the election and on the work of START! will be made available in the next few weeks.
What will happen this year?
In the coming year, the future direction of the university’s government will be set in a number of important ways. Beside the senate election, three further central elections are coming up (with differing roles for the senate):
- Election of the rector (elected for a period of 4 years, beginning March 1, 2023). The rector is formally elected by the university council, which is bound to a list of 3 names proposed by the senate. This proposal, in turn, is based on a proposal of three names worked out by a search committee (however, the senate is not bound to this proposal).
- Election of the vice rectors (elected for a period of 4 years, beginning March 1, 2023). The vice rectors are formally elected by the university council, on the basis of a proposal by the newly elected rector and after a statement made by the senate on the proposal.
- Election of 3 members of the university council (elected for a period of 5 years, beginning March 1, 2023). These three members of the council are elected by the senate. Three additional members are appointed by the federal government, and one final member is co-opted by these six members.
As members of the list START!, we are ready to do our part in these important elections – to exercise our mandate in a responsible, thorough and professional manner, meant to benefit the whole university.
