Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen!

Wir von der Liste START! bedanken uns für die zahlreichen positiven Rückmeldungen auf unsere erste Mailaussendung und unser Forum. Wir möchten kurz vor der Senatswahl nochmals um Unterstützung für unsere Liste werben.

Seit der letzten Senatswahl, bei der START! zum ersten Mal neben der bisherigen Einheitsliste kandidierte und 6 von 13 Mandaten erzielen konnte, setzen wir uns im Senat für mehr Vielfalt, Subsidiarität, Interessenausgleich und checks and balances ein. Wir scheuen nicht vor offener und kritisch-konstruktiver Diskussion zurück und verstehen uns als Motor für Veränderung und Innovation. Wir wünschen uns eine Universität, an der viele Konzepte und Richtungen vertreten und Kompromisse in einem sachlichen Klima möglich sind.

Wir sind ein aktives und inspiriertes Team quer über die Fakultäten, das sich gemeinsamen Werten und einem gemeinsamen Programm (http://www.uni-innsbruck-start.at/wp/programm/) zum Wohle der Universität verpflichtet fühlt. Zu unseren Mitgliedern gehören bekannte und neue Gesichter, die viel Kompetenz mitbringen: von Betriebsrät:innen bis zum ehemaligen FWF-Vizepräsidenten, von Dekanen über Studiendekaninnen zu Institutsleiter:innen, von auch über die Universität hinaus bekannten Expert:innen bis zu Höchstrichter:innen.

Für die nächsten Jahre setzen wir uns im Einklang mit den an uns zahlreich herangetragenen Anliegen folgende konkrete Ziele:

• Stärkung von Partizipation und Autonomie der Fakultäten im Rahmen von Organisations- und Entwicklungsplan sowie Zielvereinbarungen
• ausgewogene Vertretung unterschiedlicher universitärer Interessen und Aufgabenbereiche
• Wahrung der Autonomie aller Senatskommissionen
• Verbesserung der Arbeitsbedingungen der Universitätsprofessor:innen durch Erarbeitung eines umfassenden Maßnahmenkatalogs, der dem neuen Rektorat proaktiv vorgelegt wird
• offene Foren statt Interventionismus und Intransparenz
• Verschlankung der Berufungsverfahren ohne Berufungsbeauftragte der Rektorin/des Rektors
• Reform der personenbezogenen und der Fakultätsevaluationen

Dear colleagues,

We would like to thank you for your numerous positive replies to our first email on behalf of the START! list and our forum. Now that the senate elections are imminent, we would once more like to ask you to support our list. 

Since the last senate elections, when the START! list ran for elections for the first time and obtained 6 out of 13 mandates, our work in the senate has been dedicated to furthering diversity, subsidiarity, a balancing of interests and checks on power. We do not shy away from open and critically constructive discussions and we see our role as advocating for change and innovation. The university we envisage is one where many concepts and approaches are represented, and where it is possible to find a middle ground while maintaining a civil culture of discussion with a focus on content.

Our team consists of members across the faculties, who are committed to shared values and a joint programme for the common welfare of our university (http://www.uni-innsbruck-start.at/wp/programm/). The team comprises a high level of competency in different areas and includes well-known as well as new faces, including, for example, members of the works council, a former FWF vice president, a number of deans, deans of studies and heads of departments, experts who have a high profile beyond the university as well as constitutional justices.

We have listened and continue to listen to concerns brought to us from the group we represent in the senate. From this there result the following goals that we aim to achieve through our work in the senate over the next few years:

• to strengthen the participation and autonomy of the faculties as part of the development and organisation programme (Entwicklungs- und Organisationsplan) as well as the target agreements (Zielvereinbarungen) 
• to achieve a balanced representation of different university interests and fields of activities
• to safeguard the autonomy of all senate committees
• to work towards improving the working conditions of university professors by proposing a comprehensive catalogue of measures that will be submitted proactively to the new rectorate 
• to establish open fora instead of interventionism and intransparency
• to streamline the procedures for the appointment of tenured professors (Berufungsverfahren) without representatives that are appointed by the rector (Berufungsbeauftragte)
•  to reform both individual and faculty evaluations.
